Hi, all.

I haven't been here in many moons, but I have a question about this piece.

I've seen some threads about the difficulty of particular pieces.  I'm an amateur, and have played with chamber orchestra several times.  Mostly Mozart, incl. K449, 453, 459, and 488.  Have tackled Beethoven 4.

Does anyone have an idea of the technical difficulties in this Shostakovich?
thanks--Teresa

If youve played all that, you should be fine, I played several times last year, will play it this summer again.

If you have any specific quesitons, feel free to ask.
For a good laugh, check out my posts in the audition room, and tell me exactly how terrible they are :)

Thanks, Ferndandito!

I've ordered the score ( :o $$$), but haven't received it yet.  I may well have specific questions after I start working on it.  I'll let you know!

Have you enjoyed performing it?

All the best,Teresa

I just heard Alexander Toradze play this with the Cincinnati Symphony last weekend--incredible performance.  It seemed that the main technical difficulties were fast fingerwork, and some leaps in the finale.

I heard this at CSO last weekend as well.  Stunning.

No, I'm a highschooler at Lakota.  I just love to go to CSO concerts.
