:( help with reading sheet music
on: May 15, 2005, 05:58:03 PM
Ok, I'd like to start this out by saying that if any of you have AIM, please pm me and let me know sn so I don't have to spam this forum.
I thought I could read sheet music...but I'm looking at this and one of two things occured to me:
1. I can't
2. This sheet music is wrong
I'm curious of a few things right now though:
Chords, how will I know something on this is a chord?
bass clef, how do I incorporate that into playing, I thought I'd only need to focus on treble...

In a nutshell, a chord is when two or more notes are played at the same time.
What do you mean with "only focusing on the treble"? You got to play all the notes that are assigned to your instrument, not matter how many staves there are and what clef appears in them. The clef is only a rough guide to tell you in what pitch range you are. One often finds that both staves (in piano music) have the treble clef, or both have the bass clef.
I'd suggest you look at a site or a book that covers basic theory. Google is your friend
