When learning harmonic/melodic minor scales, does one have to first learn natural minors before learning them???

Not for playing, but it's good to be aware that they are where the harmonic and minor scales come from...many people have never heard of the natural minor.

There's another reason, not so good as the ones given, but of modest merit.
You go to a new teacher. Teacher asks for a minor. You uncork the harmonic minor. Then Teacher asks for the other two. Tilt
