Turina piano trio
on: May 20, 2005, 07:31:20 AM
Hey-- I've just been assigned the piano part of Joaquin Turina's 1st trio for a chamber music workshop. I don't have the score yet, but was wondering if anyone could tell me something about the piece (I'd never heard of Turina before). Thanks for your time!

I don't know too much about him, but he was a Spanish composer from the first half of the 20th century.  He studied with D'Indy I believe and lived in Paris for quite awhile.  He wrote some attractive pieces, often evoking things Spanish. (go figure)  Nothing groundbreaking, but he did write some interesting stuff.  I am particularly fond of his suite, El Circo.
