Beethoven Editions

Which edition of the Sonatas do you find to be the best?  I know there are plenty, some good and some not so good, but I'd just like to get some thoughts.

Also, I heard Earl Wild speak about how the only "good" edition of the Sonatas is edited by Liszt and very difficult to find.  Anyone know about this one?

The ABRSM Edition is probably the best. It contains a commentary before each Sonata by Donald Francis Tovey, who also seems to have a sense of humour and a wonderful musical mind.

I always use ABRSM editions too  :)

I use Carish Urtext (from Milan), which is very good for book II. Henle Urtext is probably the best. When I need fingerings I use Arrau's edition published by Peters (again book II only).

I use the Edition Peters (Arrau).  I find it quite good.

On the not good side there is Schirmer.  There is very little distinction between what is editorial and what Beethoven wrote.  I would only get it for possible alternate fingerings, or to see how another person interprets the sonatas.
Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach

Tovey is the best, but Henle is more accessible for me so I use it.

If you can find them, Augener's Editions are extremely good imo.

I am also curious about the Liszt edition of Beethoven Sonatas.  I found that it is published by zen-on (tokyo) and you can get it through sheetmusicplus.com
Does anybody know anything about these? Are all the notes written in japanese?  Did he alter the sonatas?  Any info would be really interesting that anyone has to offer.  Thanks
