Any 2nd instrument?
on: May 22, 2005, 03:05:39 PM
Hmm.. I was wondering.. Do you guys play any other instruments besides piano?

Me myself, I played the recorder and alt recorder a few years ago.. When I moved from Jakarta to Holland I actually quit ;D

Now I play the piano for sure buttttttt.. (You're never going to believe this..) I also play drums in a band :P Just for fun ::) Don't worry.. Piano is still my one and only passion ;)

How about YOU?

Besides piano I play electric guitar, cornet, tenor horn, bass guitar, drums and alto sax. My main instruments though are piano and guitar for solo stuff, and cornet and tenor horn in a concert band and brass band respectively.

That's cool you can play so many instruments! I guess it's not all classical?  ;D You play in a band? (I mean, with electric guitar/bass/drums n stuff)

I played treble recorder up to grade 8 but quit years ago because I had no-one to play with  :(. I've also tried double bass, viola and violin but never got on with them that well, piano is always no.1  ;D

I play the cello.  Gotta love Bach... ;D
You need more than a piano, two hands and a brain to play music.  You also need hot sauce.

Electric guitar (What can I say, the guitar solo from Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Freebird" just doesn't sound the same on a piano)
Acoustic guitar (Playing slide guitar on an open D tuning around the late night campfires is always a good conversation starter)
Bass guitar (Bass clef for the low notes)
some drums (You think 4 against 3 is hard, try doing that with all your appendages.  In other words...I suck at drums)
electric keyboard (mentioned because I think some of the techniques are different enough from an acoustic piano)
dabbled in the flute for awhile (that was my Jethro Tull phase, but it didn't stick)

Guess that's about all the noise making I'm capable of, other than some occasional eructations that garner kudos in non-mixed company.  :o

I've played many things over the years.  My latest venture is tenor gamba.  Just me and my scratchy bow paying karmic dues from all the fun I've made of bad string players.  I keep a little picture of Jordi Savaal hanging from the A peg to cheer me on.

I play guitar, I like to play rock, no classical guitar, it's my only way to escape classical music, which I think is the best music for piano (obviously).. I also play sax, and was in a jazz band, hey we were pretty good, and the reason I didn' play keyboard in the band was because the girl who playd was like 300 times better than me, she's like a prodigy, finished performer's at 15 1/2

I play rock/metal guitar. I'm not nearly as good at it as I am at piano. It just doesn't inspire me as much. But as someone mentioned above, it does serve as a nice way to take a break from saturating oneself with piano music.
