Recital Program help
on: May 22, 2005, 07:55:38 PM
Hey guys. Just wondering what you think of this recital program, I'm only doing a really small recital, so it can't be that long:

Schubert Impromptu no.2 in Eb D.899
Chopin Scherzo no.2 in Bb Minor
Debussy Arabesque no.1

I'm not really sure if this is a good set.  I've also got some other pieces prepared aswell, which may be better to put in: Haydn Sonata no.59 in Eb (1st Movement), Liszt's Liebestraum no.3, Chopin etude no.5, Op10, and Debussy's Clair de Lune.

Any help would be much appreciated!

I'm pretty much rubbish at helping with recital programs, buuut how about:

Chopin Scherzo no. 2
Schubert Impromptu
Debussy Clair de Lune

or

Liszt Liebestraum
Schubert Impromptu
Chopin Scherzo no. 2

or perhaps

Chopin Etude op. 10 no. 5
Debussy Arabesque no. 1
Chopin Scherzo no. 2

or indeed

Liszt Liebestraum
Debussy Arabesque no. 1
Chopin Scherzo no. 2

or my final suggestion

Debussy Clair de Lune
Schubert Impromptu
Chopin Scherzo no. 2

Just a few things to consider! I have nothing really constructive to say, but I personally wouldn't play your program as you have listed it here.

Might want to consider a couple of very short character pieces, or miniatures.

Scriabin - any poem, prelude, or misc. minature
Ginastera - Danzas Argentinas; American preludes
Bartok
Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach

the particular Debussy pieces mentioned are quite overplayed....of course it is a recital and people may not care about this, nor will they be concerned that these works are immature and unrepresentative of his style.....ach, why do i post
