Just fainted!
on: May 25, 2005, 09:57:22 PM
I just got a nasty little cut on the back of my heel from a bean can! I was taking the garbage out when it brushed against my heel; no pain, but I looked down and saw I was bleeding. I went in to the bathroom, sat down, and started dressing my wound - a minute later I felt very light headed and realized I was laying over the side of the bathtub. Very luckily the curtain had cushioned my fall. Anyone here fainted before? Apparently it happens often when people donate blood.

i'm quite well aquainted with the dizzy feeling before fainting so am good at lying down before falling over- done many a time at school in class. but my sis did a great faint in a train station in munich- we'd just been walking a fair bit in the freezing cold with no beanie, and then walked into this fully warm station, waiting to hire a car, and then my sis just suddenly collapses over the railing thing and got this huge gash on her knee. i was highly impressed with her, mum was freaking out that she'd hurt her ankle or something and wouldn't be able to do ballet (she was in the process of auditioning for various ballet schools in europe)

I have fainted twice, both at school. The second time we were standing up in the hall singing carols, I remember it was the 4th verse of Oh Come All Ye Faithful, heard the buzzing and keeled over. Can remember being dragged out by 2 teachers and everyone looking at me  :o The first time I was standing reading a book to a teacher, apparently I used to forget to breathe  ;D

i, too, always faint after seeing blood ( i often puke before passing out, but not always ). so anytime i see blood, i tell whoever happens to be with me not to panick when i pass out any minute now. i search for a chair to sit back or flat surface to lay meself down. and there i go.... *phewwwzzzzhhhh*....entering the world of the unknown... hehe..all conciousness betrays me...

a few minutes later when i wake up, i usually tell whoever with me the usual "i think i've warned you, havent i?" thingie. and they always look so unwell....poor them! tds

i only ever fainted once, i was a very young kid and was attempting to play tarzan while i was in africa and the vine broke.  I cut open the back of my head though fortunately didn't crack my skull or anything.  Interesting feeling, i don't remember any pain just dizziness then nothing.

Ps Siberian Husky and i_m_robot one and the same? something to think about, maybe he forgot which one he was logged in as.

I have low blood pressure, so if it drops a bit sometimes, I may faint - it's important to know the onset of a fainting fit, because I know to pull over if I'm driving and wait until it passes.

A friend of mine at school fainted when we dissected a chicken - he's now a doctor!!!   :o

Take Your Seat! Trifonov Plays Brahms in Berlin

“He has everything and more – tenderness and also the demonic element. I never heard anything like that,” as Martha Argerich once said of Daniil Trifonov. To celebrate the end of the year, the star pianist performs Johannes Brahms’s monumental Piano Concerto No. 2 with the Philharmoniker and Kirill Petrenko on December 31.
