Estonia and Petrof Prices
on: May 26, 2005, 02:47:59 PM
I live in the US.  I just visited several local dealers and got the offer for the following pianos.  Are they good or there is still room for negotiation?

Estonia - Ebony Satin L-168 - $21,800
Petrof - Ebony Polished P IV - $19,800

Thanks!

With most dealers there would still be room for negotiation --like moving up to the 6'4".

Yes, ask for the next size up for that money and get out your check book!

Thanks, hgiles!

Unfortunately, my living room is probably not big enough for a grand over 6'.  How much should be fair for aforemetioned models?

My experience has been with the Petrof III, where I was quoted $19,600.   I wasn't much interested in a smaller piano, so I really don't know where the IV would be -- $16-17k seems about right.

Estonias are reportedly also very nice and should be comparably priced.

I decided on a Walter 190 for $22,500.

I would have to agree with lgyuan.  Bite the bullet and buy yourself a bigger piano.  You won't regret it later.   :D

Estonias underwent a price increase early this year, to the point that a Estonia 190 is listed at $33,000 (US). Assuming a 25% discount, you'd be looking in the high '20's. When I was looking (and I still am) I was looking at a 190, and I hoped to come in with a price in the mid '20's.

PS: I know, 33 - 25% is about 24.....  Just telling you what the salesman said.

I really doubt it myself if you can get a new Estonia 190 for mid $25,000.  Either you have to put out a few extra grand or buy the Walther 190 or PetroIII which is a little less.  You may want to think about an Estonia's 168.   :)
