I have heard all of them, but i dont like power metal that much, so it has been a while since i listened to Blind Guardian and Rhapsody.

Though i within the metal genre have been listening mainly to black metal the last years, i now find myself exploring death metal. I feel i have discovered what is worth checking out in black metal, most bands that comes out in these days dont interest me (at least of what i have looked into). Death metal is normally more complex too, which i dont mind.

Opeth is the big favorite, not a single weak album, pure quality all the way. Cant wait till they release their next album!
Extol is cool too, i`ve just got Undeceived, which is a great. Gotta get Burial to, i`ve been hearing big words about that album.
Its time to kick ass and chew bubblegum. And i`m all out of gum.

I listen predominantly to death metal, myself. Rhapsody and Blind Guardian are exceptions for me because I feel their guitarwork is much more interesting and original than a lot of power metal bands. So many power metal bands will have their first song on the cd go:

jug jigga jug jigga jug jigga jug jigga JAH JAH  (where the JAH JAH is the 5th fret power chord and the second one is the 7th fret power chord on the A string). hahahaha. anyone know who I just ripped off there?

I'm kind of a dilettante where it comes to black/death/power metal - I'm more into the older hard rock / heavy metal stuff. I like Blind Guardian a lot though.

Sorry, I haven't heard of any of them.  My metal tastes lean more to the progressive side, i.e.:

Symphony X
Porcupine Tree
Dream Theater
Glass Hammer
Platypus
Liquid Tension Experiment
Spock's Beard
Transatlantic
OSI

But, thanks for the list.  I can check out something new!!

That sounds like the theme in CSI  :P

I listened to Rhapsody some time ago, in fact they were one of the bands that brought me into metal. They are very good at what they are doing, and they have some very good melodies, but i am tired of that kind of vocal, i need more "uglier" voice now. When i want happy music i listen to progrock or classical or something else, in metal i prefer it dark ;D

Im going to a festival this summer, were Nile, Obituary, Behemoth, Blood Red Throne and Opeth are playing. Yeah!!
