granados twelve spanish dances was on our tv classical station this morning, and someone played it on guitar FANTASTICALLY. in a very spanish style, but was not jerky (you know what i mean) when they sped up and slowed down. it was a revelation to hear how SLOWLY some movements are and how slow to fast (gradually - is extremely beautiful) others are. sometimes pianists want to get from a to b too fast (myself) and i would advise on this piece to listen to a great guitarist first. unfortunately they didn't give the performer's name.
they didn't have clear recording abilities in granados time did they? wondering if it was granados himself? b. 1867 or something.
*granados tragically died when trying to save his wife from drowining after their boat was torpedoed in the english channel.
