Work outline
on: May 27, 2005, 10:01:53 AM
Based on a number of posts I read, I created a work outline excel sheet. It's pretty basic but I think it might help me to see
-what I'm working at
-if I'm really working (as feedback, positive and negative, and as a motivator in slow weeks)
-if I'm over/underworking some pieces / some technical issues
-for repertoire if I'm not always playing the same songs I like more
-a quick menu if I have some extra time to practise
My plan is to use it mainly as a feedback / follow up sheet. But one could use it for planning as well I guess.
What did I make:
1. A weekly sheet with my activities
I started my week on the day I get my piano lesson, once a week, can be changed
I have an overview of pieces, technique and extra's I'm working on
One can either check the box to indicate that you worked that item or you can put in time. This way you also have a time log
2. A monthly repertoire sheet
A selection of the pieces I know or once knew that I'm refreshing now
3. A yearly repertoire sheet
A list of all the pieces I know (and that I find worth keeping in my repertoire). This way I make sure I work on all of them someday. I can imagine for some people this list can become huge (I'm only playing 2 years so the list is short) but then you can keep it on PC and at least you have an overview of what you have there ready to play for some occasion.
In all three sections I devided the music in school and private. Often I do things beside what I have to for my teacher and this way I can follow it up the same way.
I translated it in English, so if someone knows a website where I could put it (as long as the filesharing on PF isn't up), then I can share it with you. This way you can use it, adapt it, give feedback on it.
Best regards,
Stephane
