The Prodigy Who Saw Into the Future – Lili Boulanger’s Piano Music

A teenage girl with forward-looking ideas, Lili Boulanger had enough determination to successfully navigate the competitive, patriarchal, and conservative music scene of Paris. Despite a constant fight against illness, she achieved great mastery as a composer, and left behind a significant catalog of works characterized by intense emotional depth, in a sophisticated, post-Romantic, Impressionist style. Now, all her scores for solo piano are available to Piano Street’s members. Read more

Program order suggestions
on: May 28, 2005, 11:34:15 AM
For my end of the year recital, I'm going to be playing Pathetique 1st movement, Rachmaninoff C# minor prelude, and Mendelssohn Song's Without Words, op. 62 no. 1.  Any suggestions?

Pathetique, Mendelssohn, Rachmaninoff

I wouldn't programme it any other way.  The Pathetique 1st is a great piece to start with (it begins with an introduction itself!!!)  :)  and because I would never end with the Mendelssohn, the Rachmaninoff wins by default...plus you get to have fun with the huge chords at the end.  Have fun and good luck!

That's really the only order that makes sense.  As an added bonus, it's in chronological order, too.

I'd do Rachmaninoff, Mendelssohn, Beethoven personally.

Apart from the Mendelsohn, that's the same program I'm playing in a few weeks!!!  :P I'm playing Chopin Valse no. 14 op. posth. instead. I play it Beethoven, Chopin, Rach.
