Help finding two short Rachmaninoff pieces (1899)
on: June 08, 2005, 09:25:04 PM
Hi,
I am hoping someone on this forum may be able to help me locate the scores for two lovely short Rachmaninoff pieces for solo piano written in 1899 but probably published posthumously.
They are:
Morceau de Fantaisie in G minor
Fughetta in F major
Is far as I can tell these are both out of print, and not well known. I have borrowed an old book from my teacher which has the Fantasie, but I cannot find the Fughetta anywhere.
I've asked Boosey & Hawkes who published my teacher's book, but they can't help.
Can anyone suggest how I might be able to get copies of these scores?
FYI. there are two recordings I know of that contain these two pieces:
Howard Shelley
Hyperion CDA66198 Rachmaninov: The Early Piano Works
Idil Biret
Naxos 8.554426 RACHMANINOV: Variations on a Theme of Chopin / Preludes
(also on iTunes)

Thanks for that link. yes that is one of the pieces I was after.
I did eventually find a publisher (Sikorski) of a book containing both pieces and several other little known early Rachmaninoff piano works and I ordered it from my local dealer.
