Arrau's Op.111
on: June 14, 2005, 03:12:33 PM
I can't find Arrau's recording of Beethoven's Sonata Op.111. I'm pretty certain that he made a recording of that piece. If you have the recording could you post his time for each movement? I'd like some ideas on tempo. I've listened to a few other recordings, but I'm really fond of Arrau.

This might be a stupid question, but would I be expected to play all of the repeats in a competition? With the other Beethoven Sonata's I have played I've always left them out, but in this sonata they seem vital to the structure.

I'm pretty sure Arrau made more than one, so all you should need to do is look on amazon or something...

I assume you're talking about the second movement regarding repeats. Usually, you don't take repeats in competitions, but you should ask the judges in this case.

I can't find the recording in the stores or in the library. I don't have a credit card so I don't do much on-line shopping.  ::)
