Rachmaninov 2nd Concerto Katchen/Solti
on: June 16, 2005, 10:37:10 AM
I am listening to this version as I heard it was was good. I now think it is one of the best versions if not the best.

Katchen plays with full intensity but Solti also draws some really passionate playing from the LSO especially from the strings in the second movement. So overall it is an almost ideal partnership.

I really recommend this recording if you like this piece played with enthusiasm and virtuosity.

Katchen is such an under rated pianist.

Sad to have died so early.
