Double sharp, increase the value of the note by a tone. so for example C# becom D# or C become D.

It's a double sharp, there are double flats as well that are indicated by "bb"...  Don't ask me why Double sharp isn't written "##" maybe it's too big and messy or something...  Even though I think I've seen it written like that before.

Anyways a double sharp indicated by an "x" means to raise the original note by two half steps or by one whole step so the g double sharp your talking about is enharmonic to an A or is the same as an A.  Because it's just a G raised by two half steps...

Ignore this last thing if you already get it.  Something it doesn't mean is to raise it a whole step after the key signature so the key says G is sharp does that mean you raise G# by a whole step?  No it's just the G...

Double flat "bb" is the same thing just you lower the note by two half steps...

Hope I helped!

;)  Chopinetta makes an excellent point, Guitar. I think a good primer in music theory and harmony would be just what the doctor ordered.

Sorry but I cant afford lessons right now and am teaching myself how to play and read the music. Thnx for the info though. I knew what everything else meant except for those signs. If any of you know any good sites that would explain advanced symbols or notes please leave a link. Thnx.

Chopinetta,

Perhaps Guitar wants to be able to read the music even though he isn't actually thinking of playing it right now?

Yes..  learning notation as you go isn't all that unreasonable.  There isn't that much of it to know, and it isn't hard to store in memory once you encounter it.  I doubt, for instance, that he'll ever forget what the 'x' means after now.

Mastering the passage takes quite a bit longer than figuring out which notes to play, after all.

okay, i understand now, guitarwolf, you are self-learning. when i was also self-learning mozart's turkish march years ago i didn't know what those baby notes were. they're actually the grace notes! gee

probably a tremolo- play the note real fast, plus the one above it in the scal, then the note again (all real fast, sounding like duh-duh-duhhh
