Well, I spent a ridiculous amount of time playing Mozart, so I have a whole heap under my fingers, but I'll only list the few that I enjoy playing (not that I ever play any Mozart anymore, for private reasons, so if anyone else wants any of the ones I've listed, you're welcome to them!)

It hasn't been at performance level for a few years but I used to be able to play it rather well.  Incidentally, is the Fantasy K.475 being counted as a prelude to the Sonata K.457 in the list above?  I can't remember ever hearing them recorded separately.

Nearly complete already - this just leaves 279, 281, 282, 284, and 309. (Might be a bit difficult finding people who have played the earlier ones.)

Yes, that's correct. They are usually played together, and they should be i think. The Fantasy blends in very nicely with the Sonata and it isn't the same without it.

Now that I think about it, I did hear the Fantasy on the radio once without the sonata.  Didn't sound the same, really.  What I'm curious to know is whether Mozart wrote the Fantasy with the intent of using it as a prelude to the sonata or if he decided the two pieces worked best together rather than separate after having written them.

Incidentally, I haven't learned it formally and it's a bit rusty, but I can contribute another sonata to this list....

Does the two-piano sonata count? If so, then I've got the first mvt learned. I would've listed the F-major and A-minor, but I was beat to it.

I find Mozart beautiful and great fun to play. I don't understand why people hate Mozart.

I'm rather neutral where Mozart is concerned.  Where piano sonatas from the classical era are concerned, I certainly prefer Haydn and Beethoven - although I haven't listened to nearly enough of the Haydn sonatas, I find, say, No.52 in E-flat major far more substantial and satisfying than any of the Mozart sonatas, but then I suppose it's one of the more substantial of the Haydn sonatas anyway. (Unfortunately, the Haydn sonatas are more overlooked in general than the Mozart and Beethoven sonatas, so a list such as this for the Haydn would probably have few takers.  I only ever learned the first movement of No.4 in D major for my Grade 5 ABRSM exam in 1991.)

So, we're still lacking K.279, K.281, and K.309.  Any takers?

I can play the first movement of K279 fairly well, but the rest does need to be learned.  For some reason I don't think anyone else is going to add this...so I'm willing to bet Skept will make an exception XD

I played a bit on the two sonatas i "claimed" and i almost think i should erase my name from the K.311 one!  :) Especially the Rondo sounded awful! It will need some serious work getting up to performance level again.
Love that Rondo movement though, it's fun to play and really gets your spirit up.

Hate Mozart btw? I love his music. But it might very well be so that if you've listened to a sub par performance of a Mozart Piano piece, it will not be a good experience.
In my opinion, there's probably no other composer where the difference between a fair and a good performance makes such a huge difference as to how enjoyable the music is to listen to!
Most of his Sonatas are quite easy to "learn", but they are very very difficult to master.

The last thing i'd pick to play for a competition would be Mozart!  :) That would be like admitting defeat before even starting... haha...

Back to topic: If anyone has the K. 311 up to performance level, please go ahead and change my name to yours... In the meantime i can as well have my name up there... and practise the piece to earn being there.

[the fantasy and sonata are both dedicated to therese von trattern - his landlord's wife.  i think his landlord was taking piano lessons and mozart wanted to appease them somehow (maybe in return for rent).  being that mozart was going through tight times, maybe he wanted to sell them separately instead of as a pair.  don't u think the sonata should come first, then the fantasy.  even the K numbers suggest this.  why are they in the opposite order in my book?  anyway, that's just my ideas on why they are not always played together.  i think playing the fantasy first is like eating dessert first (unless u play a fugue afterwards).]
do you know why benches fall apart?  it is because they have lids with little tiny hinges so you can store music inside them.  hint:  buy a bench that does not hinge.  buy it for sturdiness.

Take Your Seat! Trifonov Plays Brahms in Berlin

To celebrate the end of the year, the star pianist performs Johannes Brahms’s monumental Piano Concerto No. 2 with the Philharmoniker and Kirill Petrenko on December 31.
