Dubya quotes
on: July 06, 2005, 04:49:36 PM
"The vast majority of our imports come from outside the country."

"If we don't succeed, we run the risk of failure."

"One word sums up probably the responsibility of any Governor, and that one word is 'to be prepared'."

"I have made good judgments in the past. I have made good judgments in the future."

"The future will be better tomorrow"

"We're going to have the best educated American people in the world."

"I stand by all the misstatements that I've made."

"We have a firm commitment to NATO, we are a part of NATO. We have a firm commitment to Europe. We are a part of Europe."

"Public speaking is very easy."

"A low voter turnout is an indication of fewer people going to the polls."

"We are ready for any unforeseen event that may or may not occur."

"For NASA, space is still a high priority"

"Quite frankly, teachers are the only profession that teach our children."

"It isn't pollution that's harming the environment. It's the impurities in our air and water that are doing it."

"It's time for the human race to enter the solar system."
Don't let your music die inside you.

take any other foreign leader and you will find that their constituents have complaints as well.  perhaps if you analyze each leaders strengths and weaknesses, you will find that they all sort of even out.  leaders are not isolated from the weaknesses of the common population, it's just that their mistakes stand out farther.  i think if you rely on a president, governor, parent, etc. for perfection, you'll never find it.  so, you have to focus on what is good and what are the strengths of that person.  they are more likely to listen to you that way, and you are more able to appeal to God on their behalf.

this probably sounds old fashioned, but i am realizing that our own families are sort of mini models of govt. in a fashion.  it is easy to criticize others, but much harder to manage our own affairs.  but, if you make a bad decision, you cannot live the rest of your life stuck at that position. you go on.  you must remedy whatever difficulties are put before you.

president bush is learning, as we all do, to trust God in the times we live in.  there are no assurances anywhere else.  so many different forces hitting so many different places - and with so much distrust.  if our own country isn't behind him, our strength will fall apart.  we will be worse off with chaos.  that is what so many other countries have.  no one can agree.  there is no order.  there is no peaceful solution.  president bush stands for concepts of rights within laws.  the terrorists want no laws and all rights.
do you know why benches fall apart?  it is because they have lids with little tiny hinges so you can store music inside them.  hint:  buy a bench that does not hinge.  buy it for sturdiness.

A man can be lead by God and become a great leader without cramming God down your throat. He isn't forcing you to go to church or anything. I don't see him uniting the nation under religion. I for one would be the first to admit that if every word of my life was put under such scrutiny as his is. (because he is President) I would have plenty of stupid quotes also: therefore, I can laugh at the quotes, but that doesn't deteriorate nor uplift the way that I think about him.

that is a somewhat stupid ideology. My pastor likes sandra bullock as an actress. No one feels that the entire church follows suit and likes her as actress.

Unless your pastor is as devoted to Sandra Bullock as he is to God, this is a specious analogy.

But all this is off topic.  The quotes are hilarilous.  Bush is an idiot.  He's not learning on the job.  He's too stupid to learn anything.  Of course intelligence has never been a requirement for the job of President of the United States.  Ronald Reagan, for example.  Not a smart guy.

Since WWII:

Roosevelt: very, very smart
Truman: smart
Eisenhower: not so smart smart
Kennedy: very smart
Johnson: very smart
Nixon: very smart
Ford: dumb
Carter: very smart
Reagan: not so smart
Bush Sr.: smart
Clinton: very, very smart
Bush Jr.: dumb

Over time it's balanced out OK.   8)

P.S. OK, so Eisenhower led the troops.  I'll give him that.  ;)

Floristan, what did you base your list off of?  I can't understand why you think Eisenhower isn't smart.  For goodness sakes he led the US army in WWII.  I think that takes a bit of brain power to do well.

Uh, should I change the name of the thread to "Religious Preferences and IQ Ratings of Past, Current, and Once Hopeful Presidents?"

I was hoping for more stupid quotes, but alas I'll just have to turn on the tv and see what comes out of dumya's mouth today.

i cant believe the people who stand behind this idiot president. You cant say 'well hes only human he can make mistakes"..you CANT parallel him with regular citicenz...he is the United States President for a GOOD FUNKING REASON..because his leadership capabilities and other capacities should be qualified enough to represent, lead, unify, and strength our country. Its really retarted how people justify his ignorant and upright STUPID behaviour by saying "well hes just like you and me, he makes mistakes, he cant know everything."...

people!..come on..hes even BAD at faking to look good..

as far as uniting our country through religion..we are such a diverse country that any reference to any God, or a God will turn someone's panties..thats just the way it is. Our president should be so qualified to find different alternatives in hopes to amalgamate our countrie's citizens...we cant justify his "means" simply because he is doing it for the sake of goodness, we all know he means well we arent stupid funks. But being president is the entire package, the meaning, AND the reflection, who cares if clinton got some dome while in office he was the man! this is all hillary's fault..if she would be doing her *** job and serving clinton up some headshots on a regular basis, then this woulda never happened...but noooo..she hungered for some spotlight...LOL now im just talkin outta my @$$...toodles yuo infantiles...my turkey on wheat awaits..

I don't understand why people think some of these quotes are funny - I mean, some of them are, but e.g.

"A low voter turnout is an indication of fewer people going to the polls."

This is a perfectly correct statement.

And since I work as a statistician, and try to get people to interpret numbers properly, this is the sort of statement I encourage EVERYBODY to make - because if you have numbers that show low voter turnout, it doesn't indicate anything else other than what Bush has said.

Well, It's pretty frightening to me that half of our country has below average intelligence.

And is Bush the smartest tool in the shed?  No, but he has the people with him who are able to get the job done.

it is sad to see the intelligence level of our nation. I went to an English class and the writing of most of the students was frightening. I am not a scholarly writer by any means, but I was one of the best writers in there. SHUDDERS*****
