This day in history...
on: July 09, 2005, 03:45:41 PM
I am wondering if anybody knows of any book set within the context of musical achievements (or at least includes musical achievements), that also takes a look at what was happening around the world with arts, sciences and geography etc. (humanity in general I suppose) around the same time as advancements in the music field ?  A book that compares them ?

Thanks,
m1469 (always trying to gain more of a sense of context)

Machlis's The Enjoyment of Music (not so enjoyable when you have to memorize huge portions of the text for a history exam!) attempts to set music history within the context of the day...at least the thinking that was happening at the time, if not so much the specific inventions and discoveries.
