Well, I suppose it depends on exactly the nature of the crush, heh.  But I will admit that when I was a little girl I had a minor (2nd) crush on the Fox (he he) from Disney's "Robin Hood".   And on Mighty Mouse too.   :-[ :-[  hmmm, maybe more but I can't think of them now.

ps- in my defense, I have discussed this very topic with a couple girl-friends of mine only to discover they shared my feelings (plus, I was young(er), okay ?).

Ok, this will sound reeeeally weird, but I totally fall in love with accents.
(swoons)
When I am listening to the news and they interview Tony Blair (I know what you are thinking!) I close my eyes and just listen to his voice and that beautiful accent, and I totally go nuts!  Really!!  I totally lose it when I listen to a guy talk, and he has an accent--especially British.

(swoons)

I also love Australian accents.  I don't think I have ever heard an Australian man speak, but I have heard tons of Australian females speak.  And I love the way they talk, such as Olivia Newton John (ok, I'm showing my age here!!  I don't know if she is even popular these days or not--I'm so old! lol)

And what you on about closing your eyes when Tony talks? You don't need to close your eyes, come on he's well hot! Here's the evidence:

LOL

Me and my flatmate at Uni often had joke crushes/obsessions on such "celebrities" as:

Karl Kennedy (in "Neighbours")

Alf Stewart (in "Home and Away")

and not forgetting Cliff Richard!  :o

I also have a thing for comedians such as:

David Walliams

Simon Pegg

mmmmmm

I think if a guy is funny it makes him twice as attractive.

"Wrong" ? No, certainly not. In fact these things, whether for real people or imaginary ones, can be used to heighten creative musical impulse. They only become a nuisance when they obtrude on your thoughts sufficiently to disturb your peace of mind and your enjoyment of other things.

It's a question of balance and common sense. In like fashion, if I fancy a brandy I'll have one, but I won't have six of them. If I want a cup of coffee I'll have one or two, but not twenty a day. If I fancy somebody I'll enjoy sporadic fantasising about it but I won't sit there thinking about it all day.

YES!!!  I really DONT close my eyes, because I think that he's hot too!!!  You and I need to get together and do lunch and giggle about our schoolgirl crushes on older British men!!  Also, I have this obsession with hands.  I don't care how ugly the man is--as long as he 1) is older than me 2)has an accent (preferrably British), and 3)has strong looking hands!  Oooooooo!!  I am always staring at men's hands!  (This was fun!)

australians sound less uptight.  tony blair really gets type A in the house of commons.  but, i admit, he does express himself well.

i had a friend who's marriage unfortunately fell apart.  after weeping for several years - she decided to make her husband wish he'd never done that - and married a younger man who was australian, hot, and sort of muscle bound (construction worker, i think).  besides being tanned all the time, he was also something else all the time (unlike her previous husband ?  don't really know).  anyway, he had time for things.  i think this really surprised her ex and yet   do you know what i find really strange/funny.  after a few years, she tired of 'hot' and just wanted her first husband back.  i told her, i think it's a little to late (since he'd already remarried before she did).  she is divorced the second time (and i feel a lot of compassion for her) - she wishes that her first marriage had worked out since she has kids.

i guess maybe 'hot' isn't the only thing to look for - but it doesn't hurt.  whatever you do, janice, don't be obvious.  make them hunt YOU down, and don't settle for anything less than what you want.  guys like smart ladies and ones that are sometimes too busy to always say 'yes' to dinner.  make them guess, instead of you.  i used to get totally infatuated with one certain guy and never said 'no' to a date with him.  but, that's kinda boring now that i think about it.  you have to have a portion of your life that is yours, that you are completely happy with, and that you don't let others impose on.  as time goes on, you'll get to know who it is that you REALLY like vs. are infatuated with.

do you know why benches fall apart?  it is because they have lids with little tiny hinges so you can store music inside them.  hint:  buy a bench that does not hinge.  buy it for sturdiness.

The mind of Bob....

Hmm.....

so...

7/9 > 5/5

right?

:)

For the truly crude....

7/9 = [censored by Bob.  This part of the equation is too intense for you! :) ]

;)  Yeah, it's a little base I know.

[Disclaimer:  No offense is meant toward anyone implied or anyone reading the above.  The preceding for humorous purposes only.]

I thought about not posting it, but it's a very amusing play on number-words.  It's all open to interpretation, so not everyone will get the humor.

7 of 9.... viio or IX.... IX would be ii.... viio/ii, a diminished triad leading to the supertonic... which IS a dominant function, secondary dominant.... a V7/V.... so 7/9 = V/V really....

Seven of Nine is a secondary dominant chord on the supertonic.  That's quite a chord...  altered scale step too... :)

Pianonut,
I was merely joking around like a teenager.  No harm in that.  But yes, I DO find Tony Blair very very attractive!!  I believe that you know where I stand on certain beliefs/issues.  In fact, I have very very HIGH standards, and I have tremendous willpower and will forego (sp?) many "temporary" pleasures and keep my eye on the "big picture".  I know what I want in a man, and will not take less than what I believe is God's best for me.  Hope this clarified things! :)

bob, your humor is really annoying...but kinda funny.  not as bad as mikeyg, i must admit.

ok.  this guy that used to ask me out probably asked me between 3-5 times a year.  i was so hot for him that i would allow his annoying habit of asking at the last minute to be ok.  he would suddenly appear, ask to go out that night or day, and i would drop everything.  now, that i am more 'refined' in my outlook on dates and crushes (i hope- especially since i am married) i would get out my appointment book and say 'sorry, i have a piano lesson today and my teacher is better looking than you- ask me tommorrow.'

no, not really.  it's not nice to be mean.  but, it is something i've been wondering about.  why is it all the mean girls get all the dates, and the nice girls sit at home.  and, visa-versa the nice guys lose to the bad boys?  guess that's the difference between infatuation and really knowing who's who.

national rugby scores? 7 people survived 9 dates?  5 people asked and got yes 5 times?  ask on a date 7 good looking girls/guys - get 'no.'  date the remaining 2 (out of nine) that are on a scale from 0-1.  one out of one means you're married and you like one on one and not equal to seven out of nine, imo, especially since the seven out of nine are soap stars and wouldn't date you anyway - unless, of course, you stalked them, which would land you in jail and out of the running.

bob is too old for you.  let me help you decide here.  bob is complaining about his back already, and i can offer him chiropractic adjustments for free (as well as telling him about various health benefits from coconut milk).  i am used to 'nuturing' which seems to be what bob needs.

skeptotamus is a metro-guy.  to catch him you'd have to play 20-21st century music really well, and make him scream for mercy when you play scriabin.  you will not ever hear apologies from him, but who needs apologies when his music is so good.  he is sure of himself and occasionally trips because he sometimes thinks about skipping a stair but can't decide halfway (because he is in deep concentration about something).  once he had a band-aid on his nose because of this.  BUT, he will wear the gps watch and not the remote control hand held thing.  he has enormous self control except for one or two days a year - in which you have to catch him on a fence - marking his territory and bragging about how good he will smell if you come near him.  no, jenni, play the scriabin and then insist on a huge diamond ring.  that will scare him away or make him come to his senses.

because that was the 1980's and i still looked kinda dorky.  i used to wear a flower in my hair and never really got into current styles (probably 5-10 years behind).  then, all of a sudden one day (while watching oprah), i thought about my husband sufferring with a geeky wife (we've been married twenty years) and decided to cut it short (always had long hair).  i made myself these high powered suits and played the piano a lot for church, parties, weddings/funerals.  worked a lot.  but, then one day - i decided i didn't want to work so hard - so i had kids.  wow.  was i wrong.  kids are harder than a job.  now, my idea of being attractive is simplicity.  i don't wear makeup anymore.  exercise a lot.  and try to eat less junk food.  stay active and learn as much as i can about piano.

if you want to have a crush on me, go ahead, but i'm kinda old and married.  there are many other psychotic women out there.  just kidding.  i think what i would look for is faith in God.  that's what keeps things going in the hard times and good times.  you know, when people get married they say 'for better or worse.'  well alot worse sometimes happens and then a lot better.  maybe cycles of 7-8 years.  you prepare by saying you'll stand by your mate no matter what.  and, you know, you love them more afterwards (even if they stared at a blond girl and made you insanely jealous).
