CD? I thought Bernhard was going to do a 12 DVD set that makes the Taubman videos look like a commercial.

I will repeat what I said in another thread:

This CD represents just one out of many possibilities, and reflects two things foremost: my personal taste and the availability of the pieces (it is very difficult to find recordings of total beginner pieces). So, by all means make your own compilation, one which reflects your own taste (if you don’t give your students a choice among the pieces you love, you may end up having to teach them some heart sinking piece of theirchoice! ;)

Best wishes,
Bernhard.

Sorry Bernhard if I have made you cross or fed up with my suggestion.  I am not a teacher.  I am a pathetic older learner who has found you advice invaluable and would, for my own sake, appreciate a CD that you had put together.  I was not serious though and realise you have done this for your own teaching and are busy.  It was only meant as a throw away remark or compliment even.

Did I give you that impression? Nothing could be further from the truth ;)

What I was trying to say is that the pieces in the CD do not have any intrinsic value. Any piece will do. The main reason I select them and give them to my students is so that I do not have to teach some of the dreadful stuff they come up with  ::). At the same time, there is no reason why you should not consider my choice as dreadful after listening to it. The point is that a beginner's CD should consist of the pieces you would love to play/teach. These happen to be pieces I like, and that is the only reason they made it to the CD.

Best wishes,
Bernhard.
