How do you use a Q-tip?
on: August 17, 2005, 06:05:54 PM
I've always wondered if when I use a Q-tip, I put it too far in or not far enough.

What do you do?

I sometimes feel pressure on my ear drum, and I get scared that I might lose hearing.

I hear that the liquid ear cleaner is better. Don't know though.

Whoa, way too far in!  You shouldn't put it into the inner ear canal, not only to avoid damage to the eardrum but so as not to push any wax further down.  Plus, there is no reason to get rid of wax that deep in the ear because the ear needs the wax that lies there and if there is extra, the ear will push it out.  You should ask a doctor how to properly use them if you're not sure because it sounds like you may do something irreversible :-\.

someone told me q-tips werent good because the little cotton wad could get stuck inside you ear.  You can use a wet towel to clean the ears....or, as someone already suggested, pen caps seem to do the trick :) lol

go to the doctors..ask for an ear flush..every two months..hot water and peroxide..cleans it right out..keeps your ear healthy...
qtips are hazardous and not intended for ear cleaning actually

they were invented to use on oraphaces on babies..boogers in the nose and minor ear cleanage..people use these daily and clog their ears not knowing they are PUSHING the wax in..eventually it will build a wall causing a CLOG...ask for that flush bro

i got a new car

Ear candles will remove all of that wax from your ear more safetly.

Q-tips are best used to remove wax on the very outside of your ear canal.  Don't stick them into your ear though!  You'll just press most of the wax further into your ear, further complicating the problem.  Plus you could damage your eardrum.
