The Quiet Revolutionary of the Piano – Fauré’s Complete Piano Works Now on Piano Street

In the pantheon of French music, Gabriel Fauré (1845–1924) often seems a paradox—an innovator cloaked in restraint, a Romantic by birth who shaped the contours of modern French music with quiet insistence. Piano Street now provides sheet music for his complete piano works: a body of music that resists spectacle, even as it brims with invention and brilliance. Read more

Do people honestly give a sincere opinions here?
on: September 21, 2005, 09:58:52 PM
I have just join this forum few days ago.   :D  For the most part, I do enjoy coming in here and browse through what people are saying.  Some seem to be sincere with their opinions, some just want to sell their piano, and some just don't seem to care what they say on here.  From my personal opinion, I do find some people don't tell the whole truth.  What's your experience in here? Share with us what you have experienced in these type of forum.   :)  Are they negative, positive, or are they just plain *** rude, and don't really know what they are talking about. :-[

It's a mixed bag here. Many posters are sincere and knowledgable, and sometimes there seems to be a lot of teenagers giving advice based on limited experience, which at times is incorrect information wise.

Here are a few comments, for what they are worth.  I am talking about this entire forum, and not just the "Instruments" section -----------

1.  Some people take themselves too seriously.

2.  When people are being insincere, it is often readily apparent.  For instance, they may use humor when they feel a thread is somewhat silly.

3.  The youthful beginners may not supply great ANSWERS, but they often pose very interesting QUESTIONS.

And "sincere" is not enough by itself.  The person must have enough in common with you that some communication will take place.  And, obviously, some people are sincere but just plain mistaken.

I personally feel I have learned very much reading and posting on this forum.

Poems of Ecstasy – Scriabin’s Complete Piano Works Now on Piano Street

The great early 20th-century composer Alexander Scriabin left us 74 published opuses, and several unpublished manuscripts, mainly from his teenage years – when he would never go to bed without first putting a copy of Chopin’s music under his pillow. All of these scores (220 pieces in total) can now be found on Piano Street’s Scriabin page. Read more
