Bach WTC 1 Ratings
on: November 06, 2005, 05:47:29 AM

Just wondered if there was a list knocking around of the ABRSM grade ratings for these Bach Prelude and Fugues?

Did... try... that ... yes.... thanks  ::)

Lol, sorry but why reply with some smart arse comment when some one is asking a genuine question? I always search for stuff before I ask, but nothing significant came up for this (or maybe Im just not very good at search?)

I also checked this site https://www.ukpianogroup.f9.co.uk/pt-gr-uk/valerie.htm

Got any other suggestions pseudopianist (preferably something useful, but i take what I can get  ;) )

If you scroll down to repertoire, there's a link to a spreadsheet with A LOT of graded pieces. Bach WTC, or at least part of it, should be there.
It all happens on Discworld, where greed and ignorance influence human behavior... and perfectly ordinary people occasionally act like raving idiots.

A world, in short, totally unlike our own.

Have a look here (it may be more useful than grades):

(basic books to analyse the WTC - list of progressive difficulty)

(favourites from the WTC – list of progressive difficulty)

Best wishes,
Bernhard.

Really? I have found one or two that dont seem too difficult:

'JS Bach Prelude in C, no 1 from the Well-Tempered Clavier part 1' listed at Gr5 (and infact sounds much easier to me!)

There are also loads in Gr8. Admittedly that is pretty difficult for me but not what Id consider extremely hard.

JS Bach Prelude & Fugue in D, BWV 850: no 5 from Well-Tempered Clavier part 1
JS Bach Prelude & Fugue in D minor, BWV 850: no 6 from Well-Tempered Clavier pt 1
JS Bach Prelude & Fugue in E, BWV 854: no 9 from Well-Tempered Clavier part 1
JS Bach Prelude & Fugue in F#, BWV 858: no 13 from Well-Tempered Clavier part 1
JS Bach Prelude & Fugue in G# minor, BWV 858: no 18 from Well-Tempered Clavier part 1
JS Bach Prelude & Fugue in B flat, BWV 890: no 21 from Well-Tempered Clavier part 1
JS Bach Prelude & Fugue in C, BWV 870: no 1 from Well-Tempered Clavier part 2
JS Bach Prelude & Fugue in G, from Well-Tempered Clavier part 2

Eitherway, I am having a blast at the two part inventions first of all. It seems these are good preliminary pieces before WTC. Wish me luck!
