Scriabin recommendations

I had never played or heard any Scriabin until yesterday when I stumbled across the sheet music for his Op.16 preludes. I printed out No.4 which I plan to run through later. In the meantime, are there any other Scriabin pieces which you recommend I try? Around grades 4 and 5 difficulty please.

Also, how is Scriabin pronounced?

It's pronounced, skree-AH-bin

but I liked to say SKRY-uh-bin because it sounds cooler 


Sonatas 6/10 and the Fantasy Op. 28 are my favorite pieces of his, but I'm not sure if he wrote anything that's grade 4/5

You might want to try prelude 15 (grade 5) or 22 (grade 6) from Op 11.  Beautiful pieces.

Check out the disc "The Early Scriabin" with Stephen Coombs. I'm sure a few of the earliest pieces are easy enough.

some of the preludes are easier.. but sonatas 1-3 are my favourites... i dont get why people dont like them.. please tell me!!!

The only one people seem to pan regularly is the 1st. The complaint I've heard is that it's "too derivative", meaning it's too much like an imitation of Chopin. I think it's a great piece. My favorite performance is Ashkenazy's.

The best Scriabin is played by Sofronitsky.....I think.
He played with fire and sincerity. Very rare and good pianist.

Sofronitsky, Horowitz, Richter, Taub (some pieces), Glemser (disc 1 on Naxos, not disc 2)
