redness in joints?
on: January 29, 2006, 02:52:34 PM
Does anyone have any thoughts on red knuckles?

I get this once in awhile and believe it's long term wear and tear, and definitely not good.

Does anyone else get this?  Know how to prevent it or deal with it?

Might be a reaction to the cold (if its cold where you are ofcourse!). I am also prone to something like this, but only when my hands are exposed to the 'mild' British winter for to long!

My advice would be to check in with your doc if its concerning you. Might be worth it just to rule out arthritis.

There have been other threads on this.  I believe we generally reached the agreement that it doesn't cause any problems.

I have gotten red knucles but only during the winter. It doesn't affect your playing, but it can start to hurt and become rather irritating. If you put some lotion on them before you go to bed, then they will heal in about a week or so.

try gold bond lotion (deep moisturizing one).  i use it on my hands and body in the winter and it seems to protect skin, keep it from redness and cracking.  especially knuckles, elbows, knees, heels.
