confused for university...
on: February 05, 2006, 09:36:42 PM
I have no clue how the programs in university work... I really want to take chemistry, but I also want to take music performance.... is it somehow possible to major in chem and minor in music... or do the two programs have to overlap in some way...

How can we possibly know? For one; which country. And then; which university?

you can at the university of new south wales....

or you can do a combined degree and do a b.science/b.arts (though if you're at unsw you can just do a music minor and screw the other arts subjects but i don't believe you're in oz so who cares!)

that's where you go to the websites of every potential uni you could go to and look in their handbooks and see what the course outline is!

You can do both of course, taking music classes and focussing more on Chemistry.
However both subject take ALOT of time. It's a very good balance though between doing science and then art. They both relieve you from the stress each  of 'e m create.
Good luck.

Contact some universities you are interested in...they really can be very helpful. However, just as a point of interest, a friend of mine (math major) at U of T wanted to take some music courses; he was not allowed to take courses from the Faculty of Music, only some "lite" courses that were not what he wanted. York University in Toronto, on the other hand, encourages cross-discipline study.

Poems of Ecstasy – Scriabin’s Complete Piano Works Now on Piano Street

The great early 20th-century composer Alexander Scriabin left us 74 published opuses, and several unpublished manuscripts, mainly from his teenage years – when he would never go to bed without first putting a copy of Chopin’s music under his pillow. All of these scores (220 pieces in total) can now be found on Piano Street’s Scriabin page. Read more
