Old black + white movies........
on: February 09, 2006, 07:14:17 AM
Hey

Just wanted to know, my teacher asked me to find a good song to play at a performance while they do an act, she asked me to find a sort of old type piano song that they play in black and white cartoons or something like that, improvisation style.

anyone got links to sheet music, or can upload something good, or any suggestions that i can try to find sheet music to? Nothing overly hard, something I can learn in 5 weeks and perfect well. (entertainer sprung to mind but its to popular) anyway i have to come up with something in about a week.

any help ?

if you don't want to do well-known things like the Entertainer & Maple Leaf Rag, something else by Scott Joplin would probably do the trick well. There are also plenty of books full of ragtime stuff by him and by other composers. You could probably borrow them from some library.
Ragtime is nowhere near as tehcnically difficult as other things you play. The tunes don't have to be fast.

Let me see if Nazareth's Odeon is in the public domain.  If it is, I will pdf you a copy.
Money does not make happiness, but it can buy you a piano.  :)
