bungee jumping and breaking every bone in your body
on: February 20, 2006, 01:15:23 PM
my daughter's watching mad tv again.  this guy supposedly broke every bone - and his distraught wife is being comforted by someone.  she tries to explain that her husband lived for the rush of adrenaline.  the woman who is comforting her said that her biggest thrill as a child was running away from polio.  then she says he'll grow out of it.  his wife says he's only as old as he feels.

anyway, i don't feel so bad about one or two bones now.  can't imagine a whole body cast.  i can shuffle now - without my crutches.

i ripped that off after a month.  it was a thigh high cast and got in the way.  now, i can at least get some sun on my leg.  even if it's through a window.  vitamin d is really essential to getting bones to heal anyway.  wearing a cast only protects it from breaking again - which i'm not worried about since the bone has healed.  my problem is the tendons and ligaments are weak still and so i've been trying to use my leg as much as possible.  finally i got on a bike at the ymca and can bend my knee enough to pedal around.  you see when i broke my leg i also messed up my knee.  when i fell - my leg ended up behind me (knee bent, foot under butt).  i couldn't stand to look at it that way - so i pulled my leg around to make it straight.  it was then that i messed up my knee too.  i pulled a the ligaments.  also, when they did the closed reduction (setting bone) they must have hammered on the sole of my foot because it is just now finally not so sore (the heel esp) and the circulation is back.
