Any info about it would be highly appreciated...especially how it compares with the other music conservatories (piano department, specifically).

I would like some information too! I just got (unexpectedly) accepted, for both piano and composition and my assigned teacher is Kathryn Brown. Can anyone tell me more?
Thanks!

I haven't received the post yet..so I don't know my assigned teacher right now. The faculty is very good ...their qualifications speak for themselves.
Teachers like Sergei Babayan, Margarita Shevchenko, Paul Schenly .....are pretty well known names in the classical circuit.
What however, i would like to know is the reputation the institute has.
Also, the advantages/disadvantages of being in Cleveland are factors to be considered.

Great faculty, good performing opportunities, incredible symphony in town =)
It is one of many great music schools in the country, so I would make the decision based on:
1. who you would be studying piano with (which of course means you need to meet them, have a lesson, etc.)
2. general vibe you get - people you meet, facilities, climate, etc.
3. scholarships they offer you

Yes, for me, right now, the scholarship is the main criteria... lets hope for the best.

Rohansahai mentioned that living in Cleveland must be factored in, so I will offer my Cleveland advice (as a native and all):
The area that CIM is in is really nice. All things that Cleveland is renowned for are right there: Severence Hall, the art museum, Case Western, and the Cleveland Clinic. Walk outside of that, the area might get a little unsafe. I'm living in D.C. now, and I can safely say the cost of living is much much much lower in Cleveland, but I found there really isn't a lot to do downtown - maybe because I was a suburbanite my entire life and never really hung out downtown. It might be kind of hard to get by without a car, because the public transportation isn't that great (might be spoiled by D.C.'s Metro), and good shopping and stuff is a little ways away.
If I didn't live there my entire life, I would've definitely considered going to Case Western (right next to CIM), but I just needed to get out.
Good luck with CIM if you choose to go there.
