Comments on repertoire
on: June 22, 2002, 09:00:17 PM
Hi all.

I've got a recital coming up (finals), which is supposed to contain various styles of piano music and extracts from pieces with orchestra.
I've already selected a repertoire and would be thankful for any kind of feedback.

Bach: Inventios in f-major and in f-minor
         Sonfonias in c-major
Brahms: Rhapsody Nr.1
Chopin: Walzes Nr. 2 and 3
            Mazurkas Op. 7 Nr.1 and Op. 17 Nr.4
Debussy: Clair de lune
Granados: Andaluza
Liszt: Hungarian Rhapsody Nr. 6
Schubert: Impromptus Op. 90 Nr. 3 and 4
Villa-Lobos: Le Polichinelle

Grieg: Piano concerto in a-minor, 1st movement
Mozart: piano conerto in f-major, KV459

In know that there's no sonata in it, but that's ok since I chose a Mozart piano concerto.

Thanks a lot. 8)

Oh my gosh, this seems like quite a bit just for a final-are you expected to play all of these pieces?  You have quite a few "big" pieces in here-my personal favorites are the 2 Schubert Impromptus.  I think you have a bit of everything, which should show off your technical, as well as musical abilities. Good luck!

I know, the program is long and difficult, but I have to play it all; it's part of a special program I chose to push my final average a little (that's what it all comes down to at German highschools).

Schuberts Impromptus are my favourites, too. Excellent and deep piano music (and not sooo difficult).

However, thanks again. Laters
