Raindrop Prelude,please have a listen.

My friends has been playing this for about 6 months now, and i asked him to record hiself playing it.

So please have a listen to the whole thing, and tell me what think of his playing.

   Thanks for posting, well if your friend has been playing only for a few years then it is a great personal achievment and your friend should be very happy ( just a guess 6 months is a long time on this prelude). So basically it would not be fair to be too critical.

    Anyway it sounded a little robotic for me , every note was playd loud and clear and the first section was more like an attack on the electric piano , rather than a gentle dream like song. The idea is to creat a contrast between the first section with its dream like reflective character with the second section which your friend did very well by bringing out the more dramatic side to this prelude. I guess your friend might like to think about haw he can play those repeated note's gently.

      By the way am sure this will get a really high mark if playd for an examiner, if this prelude is learnt for the purpose of examination.

No it isn't.... his father has his own studio, but he doesnt have a regular piano.

It was played on a synthesizer keyboard or sumthin like that ,that is why it sounds like that I was kind of unsure about posting it becuz of the way it sounds,like robotic almost.

Dont argue on this one. The file you posted and the file from the webpage are EXACTLY the same files. Same length, same size and they sound exactly the same. I checked the ID tags and what do you know, they are the same. Made by some guy Jim Paterson.

I went there, to the site, and you all are right.........some friend ...THAT LIAR......UGh That just disguits when sum1 would lie about piano,that as*hole......I mean i was kind of wondering why the piece is played clean and he had it only for about 6 months now.....F**king liar,man i am just pissed right now,thanks for telling me nicco.

Because the new programs are able to create things like crescendos, dynamic differrences, tempo rubato, arpeggios, you just have to type it in and it plays for you.

You'd need some crackshot midi programming skills to do that in list editor, thats for sure!

The downloadable files within mfiles are in general all created in the same way. Firstly a sheet music version is created using the Sibelius music editing software. On its own this provides reasonably good playback using the Scorch plug-in and a Sibelius feature called "expressivo" which makes the music less mechanical sounding. Usually, though, hidden codes are added to vary the tempo and dynamics subtly to make the playback appear more natural.

Hmmm, no kidding. Well, I must admit that this is quite impressive for a programmed midi performance. Some tempo automations to emulate rubato, and that would be pretty amazing. There are some reasonable piano sample libraries about these days too, so for none pianists, this is a great option when producing music.

I wonder what the 'expressivo' function actually does? Maybe it randomly fluctuates the timing and dynamics, not sure. Will have to look into that one.
