yes.  it crossed my mind that thal might send my e-mail directly to himself and make me the laughingstock of pianoforum.  i can't help it.  once a year - i'm completely crazy.  (half the year i'm half crazy).   it just came to me.  why don't i ask for the e-mail instead of searching for it.  then, i thought - as i was writing the e-mail 'handsomegit'  hemmm.  i'm never heard of that kind of e-mail address before.  ok.  go with theflow.  pretty soon i was thinking 'why did i ask this question?'  i don't even know why.  perhaps to let him know that after all these years (after the tchaikovsky competition) i still remember him. 

don't want to make hubby jealous though. he can't play piano and doesn't even like to listen for more than a few minutes.  but we listened to cincinnati pops yesterday for a long time.  they had a pianist playing something (what was it?) piano/violin something.  anyway- i asked m y hubby why the cincinnati pops were slightly better than the philly pops.  he said 'well, the bass drum is larger and sounds better.'  how can he know that?  so, i'm not really looking for the handsomest pianist - although thalbergmad certainly does fit the description, too - and if he wasn't after paris - and i wasn't married - i'd climb over airplane seats to sit near him.  and, he's very knowledgeable about music , too, and can find any piece you ask for.  that's very attractive as well.

ps.  thal, i bicycled 26 miles yesterday.  the wind chill factor brought the sunshine factor down 10 degrees and as i bicycled through valley forge - i wondered about why i asked to be dropped off miles from home with a bad leg in 30 degree weather.  surprisingly, when i'm on the bike - i feel buoyed - but as soon as i get off - just a slight hobble.  got mild  windburn.

thal is very good looking because he hikes around and occasionally retreats to that place in the scottish highlands with no electricity.  he is a true uber guy.  *wonders how well he shoots after a beer - since he says that he doesn't stock a freezer there.  (i think he should - but it would have to be one of those underground type freezers that utilizes permafrost).

stevie, about the self-awareness - it's a sorry lot to be a fourty-something and not be self-aware - so i think i'm about as self-aware as one can be without staring in the mirror as much as i did at 18.  i did bicycle past an 8 and 10 year old yesterday and they said 'wow'  (i still don't know if it was the bike or me).  maybe i'm the fat kind of wow and they were amazed i could still balance on the bike.  self-awareness is really a matter of perspective.  i prefer the 'head in the clouds' kind and consider a 'wow' a compliment in any form it comes in.

dear stevie,  exactly what box are you putting me in now?  i feel like i'm at the psychologists office and hearing the first sentence.  exactly what do you think about my unique style.  does it put you off?  should i stop posting randomly?  i thought you liked randomness.  well, as it happens, i am not as offended as i may seem by your farting.  our family is a family of farters too.  (just not me).  everyone around me farts.  but, when someone does it everyone claims that 'it wasn't me.'  i have to directly accuse people and hold my ground - otherwise - the farts would have come from nowhere and the smelly ones have to be claimed by someone. 

i am - (why am i saying this on barry douglas thread???) a non-farter.  i've never really had the problem.  that is because of my highly developed digestive tract.  i have always drunk a lot of milk - so it never bothered me.   rootbeer is another 'instant fart' drink in our particular family - but i can drink bottles and it never bothers me.  i am usually the one driving top speed to get home so the others can 'get tot he bathroom on time.' 

as life is - compensation here and there.  if you are good looking - you probably fart.  actually, i'm not bad looking - it's just that i have  ahard time getting a good picture.  i sort of need my own photographer and stager.  like princess diana.  they told her to look down so her nose wouldn't look so big. things like that.  don't know why they always got her eyes looking up at an angle?
