Chopin Nocturne Recommendations?
on: May 01, 2006, 02:15:58 PM

Hey all,

Id like to do a Nocturne, as I think my develop would benefit greatly from this kind of piece. Question is, which one?!

I really like Op27 No2, but the occassional difficult passage is putting me off. Could anyone recommend one at around AB Gr5-6'ish?

Much appreciated!

27/2 is the most beautifull nocturne yes  ;D But grade 8....

Quote
Grade 6

no. 21 in C minor

Grade 7

no. 2 in Eb (Op. 9 no. 2)
no. 6 in Gm (Op. 15 no. 3)
no. 11 in Gm (Op. 37 no. 1)
no. 15 in Fm (Op. 55 no. 1)
no. 19 in Em (Op. posth, 72 no. 1)
no. 20 in C#m

grade 8

no. 1 in Bbm (Op. 9 no. 1)
no. 5 in F# (Op. 15 no. 2)
no. 8 in Db (Op. 27 no.2)
no. 9 in B (Op. 32 no. 1
no. 10 in Ab (Op. 32 no. 2)
no. 14 in F# (Op. 48 no. 2)

Just above grade 8:

No. 4 in F (Op. 15 no. 1)
No. 7 in C#m (Op. 27 no. 1)
No. 12 in G (Op. 37 no. 2)
No. 13 in Cm (Op. 48 no. 1)
No. 16 in Eb (Op. 55 no. 2)
No. 17 in B (Op. 62 no. 1)
No. 18 in E (Op. 62 no. 2)

Very advanced
No. 3 in B (Op. 9 no. 3)

Thanks to Bernhard  :) I'm learning Op. 55 No. 1 at the moment. The first two pages are easy but the last one is tricky. 9/2, 72/1 and post. in C#m are also very beautifull and not to hard  :)

Ah, I see. Good ole Bernhard has dont it again. Three cheers! I shall have to look into No21 and see if I cant manage a start.

Tibi,

If you cant find a book or sheet, then this place is a godsend:

9/1 and 9/2 are quite easy. They both have a couple of twiddly bits but they won't do you any harm. Character building. ;)
55/1 and 37/1 aren't too bad either, though they're probably a bit more difficult than the first two. I'm just thinking of these off the top of my head, so there might be harder bits in them I'm forgetting about, but I think they're pretty much the easiest of the lot...
Good luck with it!
