About a year ago I visited the Steinway factory in Hamburg, and on the wall they had a large, coloured poster of well-known pianists over the past 250 years or so. They were arranged as a sort of family tree, with all the main teachers and pupils connected by coloured lines. It was a neat idea, and I wonder whether anyone knows more about it? Where might one buy a copy, for example? I should have asked at the time, of course, but I was in a hurry, and had to catch the train to Berlin.

ivan, can you post the schumann?  your playing is very good.  you're a very precise yet passionate player.  my teacher is playing the schumann A minor too, on march 5th.  i should  buy tickets tommorrow before it's too late.  was terribly icy today and was hoping to see what the weather would be like.  hope it goes well for you.

ps  i don't know for sure, but i thought i read somewhere that rach did not teach much - mostly just played.  could be wrong, though.  say, i found this article that is a recent find of his autograph manuscript his second symphony:

wow, i haven't checked this thread for a long time. that's nice to know that we basically played it almost the same day/night. i played it on march 4, but philippines is ahead by about 12 hours. haha, how did his performance go?

i posted my schumann already, but it's seems to confirm me that it was a disaster, hehehe.

i accidentally posted a reply to your thread here on the audition thread.  anyway, i really liked your playing and feel you deserve a better piano, better conductor, and better orchestra.  you are levels above them musically and the audience response showed it.
