I couldn't really say what the porportions are (just do it to taste) but I just love guacomole so I had to add my recipe. The trick is not letting everything else overpower the avocado flavour, but having all of the flavors be held together by the avocado. Also, I prefer to have some delicious avocado chunks still (vs whipping the snot out of the fruit).

sour cream
tomato
onion
jalapeno (leave seeds in for spicier flavor)
fresh, minced garlic
cilantro
fresh lime juice

pepper
chili powder
cumin
and now a bonus, mango salsa :
Mangoes/and or pineapple/ and or peach/ and or strawberries
purple onion
fresh, minced garlic
red bell pepper and/or green, yellow, orange
jalapeno (leave seeds in for spicier flavor)

salt and pepper
Goes perfectly with grilled salmon or chicken fajitas.
