I am very saddened to report the passing away yesterday of pianist Edward Aldwell. Acclaimed for his performances and recordings of Bach, Mr. Aldwell is also known for his theoretical work, the book Harmony and Voice-Leading (which he co-wrote with Carl Schachter), being a major textbook used by countless conservatories and universities.
As wonderful an artist Mr. Aldwell was, he was an even better human being. He will be greatly missed by the Curtis and Mannes communities, and by those touched by his playing and humanity.
