no.  i would like to be.

i have been paid up to $100. for an hour in a restaurant on valentine's day (and got sizeable tips).  and, played for weddings where i was paid.  funerals i was never paid (sort of just gave it away).  i've played thousands of times for church.  never paid. never asked either.  played for a master chorale as a parts accompanist and was paid $18. per hour.  i thought that was pretty good.  we had to move.  now in pa i am actively looking for someone to pay me to play the piano.  when i get some rep up i am going to longwood gardens.  that is my 'ideal' place right now.

I have been payed before. I got £100 for doing a Mozart concerto, and once got the entire piano works of Chopin for playing a funny piece with an orchestra.

In fact, thats poor payed. I know a female pianist who just finished the conservatory and she's looking for concerts. She has a concert where she plays Rachmaninoff 2nd, and she's payed with 1500€.

It still isn't bad, considering I'm a poor student, and it was only concets with amateur orchestra's. Of course if I was looking to be working an paying bills I wouldn't be happy.

I get paid of $400 sometimes, but not very often.  I think it's important to win some competition so that you can get more pay.
BTW, is there any place I can buy the video of last Queen Elisabeth competition?

Is there made a video of? I live in Belgian and just saw the disc (which I have). I only saw a dvd with a compilation of the last 50 years.

Piano Street Magazine:
Women and the Chopin Competition: Breaking Barriers in Classical Music

The piano, a sleek monument of polished wood and ivory keys, holds a curious, often paradoxical, position in music history, especially for women. While offering a crucial outlet for female expression in societies where opportunities were often limited, it also became a stage for complex gender dynamics, sometimes subtle, sometimes stark. From drawing-room whispers in the 19th century to the thunderous applause of today’s concert halls, the story of women and the piano is a narrative woven with threads of remarkable progress and stubbornly persistent challenges.
