now that adam and eve question of cd nedra's.

I guess it's a question "about the navy" so to speak :)

As for minesweeper, if you've got windows, you usually have it installed, if not it's on the windows CD.

I've heard it before but to me "When the investigators searched the room they knew that: -there was no way that the two ran out of oxygen" is afaict exactly the opposite of what fish out of water would do.

Which is to say afaict they do run out of oxygen. Irrespective of whether there is still oxygen elsewhere [in the room, in the spilt water, over the road in a tank, buried on mars waiting for Arnie to release it or whatever]

That statement seems to point away from it being fish that suffocated because their tank broke. That said, it's just a puzzle of course....

Lowest C on a Bosie 290 with his pinky?

You are very close with your answer.   ;)  Psst. read the entire thing carfully again and you might be close to answering both question.

I'll give it a bit more time for others to try.

Hint:  This is theory related.  2nd bonus question is to explain the concept.

Here's one that'll drive u all mad...

Eddy dies and goes to heaven.. as he walks through the gates he sees many many people, old friends and many unfamiliar faces (obviously) etc etc, he walks for a while and as he turns a corner he sees two people who he immediately recognises to be Adam and Eve...

How did he know this?

The answer is in the question: "...he sees many many people, old friends ..."

Adam and Eve are the names of two of his friends.

Heres some more.

1. Two boys wanted to have their father's inheritance. Their mother told them that the boy whose camel reached the finish line SLOWEST would get the inheritance. After riding aimlessly in a desert for two weeks, the boys seeked the advice of an old wise man. After listening to the old man, the two boys hopped on the camels and rode as fast as they could towards the finish line.

What two words did the old man say? ;)

2. What gets wetter as it dries?

3. What happened in 1961 that will not happen again for at least another 5000 years?

4. A man wanted to enter an exclusive club but did not know the password. So, he hid behind a wall and listened. Anyone can enter as long as they knew the password. A lady knocked on the door and a voice behind the door said "Six". The woman said "three" and was let in. A man knocked on the door and the voice said "Twelve". The man said "six" and was let in. The man who wanted to get inside felt that he had heard enough and knocked on the door. The voice said "ten'' and the man said "five" but he was not let in.

Why? ;D

4. You were dreaming that you were trapped in a house with nothing inside. It was located in a deserted area and there was nothing with you. The doors and windows are locked. There was no exit. How did you get out of the house? 8)\

Enjoy...

The answer is in the question: "...he sees many many people, old friends ..."

Adam and Eve are the names of two of his friends.

Yeah that makes sense. I was thinking [with my cryptic response] that Adam + Eve would be the only two people without navels.

As for your theory one, I couldn't think of any note on the piano that you'd have to play with a specific finger, except perhaps you might argue the lowest / highest note you might want to play with the pinky rather than having fingers off the edge of the keyboard, hence I figured it would have to be the lowest note to have any reasonable answer to the bonus [although I'm still not convinced by it]

If there's some theory that gives a better answer to the bonus I'm intrigued.

Similary for the theory, if being on the right is significant etc. If it's not a C then perhaps A [I assumed a trick element like some of the other puzzles, hence picking the bosen with its lower bass notes] Perhaps the pedal is down too, so some of these higher notes are symp res from other strings?

But I figure googling for the answer is pointless - especially since most of the other puzzles will be easily solved that way, it'd be too much like looking in the back of a crossword book.

Professor Bill was doing ear training exercises in his music class.  He sat on the piano bench and started to play a sequence that started with a single note in the bass.  He played the first note of the sequence and got a funny sound because the piano's hammers have hardened due to years of use.  Bill stoped and decided to start the passage again.  But before he did Sarah (who has perfect pitch) said "was that an F#?"  Bob, in the front row said "nah, that was a G."  Victoria who was on the right side of the class said "it sounded like an interval of C with and E three octaves and a third above".  Keith said "it sounds like a B flat that's kinda flat." Janet disagreed and said "I think it is was D, kinda high but there are some other highish sounds I can't recognize".

The Professor said "you are all correct".  What note did he play?

Bonus:
What finger did Bob use to play the note?

Sounds like notes from the overtone series of a C. Probably a pretty low one. Did Bob also play some notes? Stupid question :P ;D

;D Correct!!! Bonus is also correct.

Leahcim, your answer was correct but you mentioned a Bosie.  This can be done on any piano (although probably more effective on longer ones).

I was feeling inspired by all the puzzels so this one I made up by myself.  Being a pianoforum and all I tried to construct a music related puzzle.  Don't know if someone came up with a similar idea though.  The bonus was inspired by that dumb person/ blind person thing I couldn't answer.

In 1st year university we were encouraged to memorize the first 16 partials of the series.  It's very useful for composition, and constructing harmony.  Anyways heres the wikipedia article that explains the concept:

that was a good one.  but being that so many students were way off on the notes - i thought that they wouldn't even begin to hear the overtones (it actually crossed my mind).    but, then again, one student had perfect pitch.  maybe you should make it that they all have perfect pitch.  that threw me.

Since no one has guessed, I'll just give the answer to question one.

Just to review, this is question one.

The two words are...................................(Big Drumroll please)................................Switch Camels.

Don't understand? Ask me.

Yes. The answer should be easy and is really just thinking about the problem [rather than a trick or pulling some other possibility out of the air like I tried to] which makes it more "doh!" when you see the correct answer.

In the popular game of Minesweeper, the object is to find all the mines. If you click on a square it shows a number from 0 to 8 indicating how many of the adjacent squares contain mines. If you click on a mine, you lose.

Can you figure out where the mines are in the below board? Blank squares indicate that it is unknown whether there is a mine in that space. Squares with numbers contain no mines (or you would have already lost).

My friend once emailed me a really stupid joke and gave me the answer later. I can tell its rreeaallllyy childish. Remember, its a joke. It classified in four chapters and are all conected.

1. How do you put a Giraffe in the fridge in 3 steps?
2. How do you put an elephant in the fridge in 4 steps?
3. There was an animal meeting. All the animals were there except for one. Which animal was it and why was it absent?
4. A man crossed a croc infested river. He could just swim over without being eaten. Why?

You MUST do in order question 1 to 4.

1. I can do it in 2 steps: Open fridge -- put giraffe in (it's there even though the fridge is still open ;D ;D ;D)
2. Again, 2 steps (since the fridge is already open): take the giraffe out -- put the elephant in. However, since we're talking about big fridges, maybe you could actually have them both in at the same time, thus saving one step.
3. I think three were absent: the elephant was in the fridge, the giraffe had a cold and a croc was hiding in the river
4. Because the crocs were at the meeting, too. Except for one, which was a really evil croc. He was hiding in the river and when the man was on land again it jumped out of the water and ate the man. :o

1. Ok
2. Ok
3. Only the elephant was absent :P
4. Skip the evil croc part ;D

Sorry, forgot to check back on this thread.

ihatepop, you were kind of close with your dead bird idea.  Just think with a more detail into your previous answer.

Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach

Gee, I don't know, but I asked my friend this question and she said 'hovercraft'. Her mum works in the shipping buisness and she said that a hovercraft flies when its on and when you turn it off, it will float on water.

Still thinking bout the bird thing!!!

Mountains will crumble,
Temples will fall,
But no one can survive its endless call.

Snow White is dining with the dwarfs.  How quickly can you figure out what she will serve next?
When you earnestly believe you can compensate for a lack of skill by doubling your efforts, there's no end to what you can't do.
