I never want to lose him...
on: October 10, 2006, 10:40:05 AM
...but he is aging, and death is inevitable. I really can't put into words how much I love Dusty, only that warm fuzzy shivering feeling I get can describe it. He's sleeping on my lap right now, every so often waking and getting paranoid over a low bass eminating from the subwoofer.

I love him, drool and all.

He still has many, many years to come, though I have no idea how old he is now. He only has a few greys and can still catch rabbits and mice! A little bit of optimism was needed after my bout of pessimism. Still, thankyou for your kind words tds.

Hehe, it's like Steinways are better than Faziolis (any other piano brand can fit as it's usually between Steinways and other brands). The minority lies in liking or disliking both equally. Myself, I like Faziolis; but that's all I've played on, never fully experienced a Steinway. Still, thanks ^_^

this is probably my deepest fear, too.  losing the cat.  i have a female cat that looks very similar to yours.  she's black and little bits of orange.  a tortie.  she's always been very gentle with the kids and and basically was a watchcat for them from the time they were little.  now, i hope she's getting all the spoiling and pampering that she gave to us.  she has always been a very good cat.  never really got into trouble with the neighbors (in fact, usually people compliment her on her demeanor).  she doesn't typically mess things up.  and, she's very personable.  she is very spoiled by my husband in particular - who hand feeds her.

Pets are so special. I hope your cat is with you for years to come Henrah.

I lost my pekingese "Arpeggio" a year and a half ago. She was 15 years old, and I loved her so much. My wife and I were holding her between us when she died.

We adopted another peke shortly afterwards. Her name is Dagny. She sits on my lap whereever I go in the house. She is so precious. Here she is:

Best, John ;)

Wow your cat must love your husband so much, being fed by hand! What does he feed her? I'm guessing that it's proper food as I doubt he'd like to scoop tinned rubbish onto his hand to feed her... or does he?

Thankfully I can sleep well knowing that he won't get run over as I know that he would be absolutely petrified of the road knowing how easily he can be scared. Unfortunately it was the road that took our kitten Quinn, whom we got last year. She was the most adorable kitten I have ever had the pleasure of owning, here's a picture of her at her cutest: inside a duvet.

Dusty has been so much more loving and friendly since Quinny went, as he was always paranoid about her being around and could never settle comfortably. My mum planted a grey eucalyptus tree where Quinny was buried: a grey tree for a grey cat.

Does Dagny even sit on your lap when you play the piano John? Does she howl/bark along to the music? She is so adorable! Sorry to hear about Arpeggio, but it must have been nice (obviously not at the time) to hold her as she died. The shock that comes from seeing them dead is far worse than being with them when they die, and it's nice to hear that you had that pleasure.

And what a lovely name, Arpeggio  :)

I used to have nine cats, but they all went during the 1990s. I miss them a lot. Here's Norman, in about 1982, amazed to find himself the only cat around, when I took him to my friend's house for a photo shoot. His eyes were very gentle really, and they only look scary because of the camera flash. He became a wise father to our cat community, definitely the boss when his turn came, but never aggressive.

He is standing on a Brinsmead grand piano, manufactured in England, with an Angelus player action, manufactured by Wilcox & White in Meriden, Connecticut, and installed by Sir Herbert Marshall and Sons, in Kentish Town, London. Try to use your powers of logic to work out what is on the music roll. It's pretty obvious, really!

chopin?  just a wild guess.  it looks chromatic.

ok.  henrah, johnny-boy, pianolist - so many cat lovers.

yes. my husband fed her steak and little bits and pieces from restaurant meals that he packed up in napkins to save for her.  what is really bad, is when he comes home and says 'hello tornado!'  before saying hello to me.

But Tornado is your child, and you would expect dad to say hello to the child first. Sounds as though you like it really.

Nope, not Chopin, so it's not one of the Opus 1 Nocturnes.

Cats? I hate cats.  >:( I have three cats  ;D

Two are brother and sister, a ginger tabby and his tortoiseshell sister.  They are called Toast and Marmalade.  Marmalade is more like a dog, he will follow you around the farm.

The other is a black and white.  She just kind of arrived at our house.  First she used to make midnight raids on the other cats food by coming in through the larder window, and then gradually came further in the house.  She stayed, and we called her Charity  :D

I like my dogs better....

oops.  well, she looks like a cat in that red dress.

She's been mistaken for a cat many times. The nickname for her breed is the "Lion Dog".

She hates being called a cat though. I won’t let her read this thread. ;D

Hehehe, Toast and Marmalade - what cute names!

Here's a photo of a family friends' cat called Marmalade, he's such a poser! I called his name, he turned to me and stared down the lens for a good 5 or 6seconds whilst my camera focused, took and saved the photo!

Here are some more photo's of my darling Quinn-ifer:

you should save money and just buy baby clothes and cut holes in them.  but, of course, they might be hand sewn costumes.  in which case - not much money has to go into that either.  hmmm.  might be a job for those 'parents of animals' only.  usually if people have children the pets don't wear clothes.

We were in Paris for a few days - back by Eurostar this morning. I'll find another thread in which to put down my thoughts about the new Salle Pleyel.

It's - wait for it - Kitten on the Keys. You can see the introduction in the pattern of the perforations. I know, who wants to spend a lifetime reading perforations, but then staff notation is pretty weird too!

We have a male Siberian Husky (dog).
We had him while he was only 2 months.
Now he is almost 4 years old.

But I don't know how to upload pictures here :'(

This is yours truly with Sydney, my friend Bob's cat, named after Sydney Smith, the English Victorian composer. You can see that he has pianolist's feet.

To get Sydney here, I carried out the following steps, which I'll write out as instructions:

1 - If necessary, reduce the photo in size to around 600 pixels wide. This is not essential, but it helps avoid those messy blue scroll bars. To give you an idea of the available space, this photo is exactly 600 pixels wide.

2 - Upload it to another website somewhere, or to your own webspace, if you have some. There are very many free sites on the web which allow you to upload pictures for all to see. I searched "picture upload" on Google just now, and imageshack.us is the first site to be listed.

3 - When you have finished your text (assuming that you want the picture at the end), click on the text centering button above the reply box. "[ center ][ /center ]" will appear in the box. You don't have to center the picture, but it does look neater.

4 - Click on the little picture icon, second from left on the second row of buttons. "[ img ][ /img ]" will appear, and the complete text on your last line will be "[ center ][ img ][ /img][ /center ]".

5 - Put in the web address of your photo, between the two [ img ] codes. In my case, I stored Sydney's photo at: https://www.pianola.org/pianostreet/sydney.jpg. So my complete picture text looks like this:

[ center ][ img ]https://www.pianola.org/pianostreet/sydney.jpg[ /img ][ /center ]. Actually, there are no spaces within the boxes in the real code, but if I type them like that, then Pianostreet will treat them as code and not print them out in full in these instructions.

6 - That's it - I'm keen to see your husky!
