Advice on Chopin's nocturnes
on: November 28, 2006, 10:03:41 AM
I do love these pieces.
Is there any one of them relatively easier, I mean technically, like is op.69 no1 and no2 for waltzses?

Op. 9/2 is pretty easy in terms of technical difficulties. However, it is not easy to play it beatifully. The main danger is here in the left hand jumps that can sound somewhat mechanical if you know what i mean. Play it fluently.

On Youtube theres a kid, who plays Chop. 9/2 like a robot  ;) , don't do this.

Some people regard No. 20 posthumous c-sharp minor as a relative easy piece, but  i strongly disagree. Better start with 9/2.

Regards

Op.37 No.1 in G minor is also fairly easy.

I agree with the Op9 No2. It is indeed one of the simplest nocturnes by Chopin and one of the most favourited.

Thank you everybody for your suggestions.
I'll probably start with op9/2 even though when I was young was the leit-motiv of many advertisings. This fact doesn't let me full appreciate it. I must overcome that annoying feeling which constantly assails me after few notes.
