Fast, short, show-offy piece
on: December 04, 2006, 11:36:48 PM
I'm looking for a fast (preferably presto) short (I'm thinking about a minute and a half), and show-offy piece, you know just to impress people with about a minute and a half of their time. I was thinking Chopin etude Op.10 No.4. What do you people think?

Something around that difficulty?  Look at Rach Etudes Op 33 in Eb major, and Eb minor (the numbering can follow two systems, didn't wanna create confusion, look at the key signature)

Rach preludes: C minor, C major, Eb minor, etc.

Chopin Etudes:  Nearly all of them...

Liszt first TE.

Chopin preludes:  Bb minor, Eb major, G# minor, Eb minor, G major (might need to pair some up, their like 1 second long  ;D )

Flight of the Bumblebee always does the trick

Also some Kapustin Jazz Preludes... some are amazing

____

I played the Rach Eb major etude as a finale for a concert w/ a couple other people, and trust me, it does the trick.
Interested in discussing:

-Prokofiev Toccata
-Scriabin Sonata 2

I like Cziffra's Bumblebee transcription.  Chopin Etude 24 is also very good ;).

Omg, you people chose way too difficult pieces.

Schubert's eb major impromptu is great.

edit: just realised my choice was a bit to long. What about Mozkowski etude op72.6. Difficult for sure, but easier than 10,4.

You're right. The Virtuosic Etudes are a bit excessive.

Chopin Posth. E Minor Waltz.

that's number one on my list of things to ask him when i see him next june... (as long as he doesnt cancel!). Another interesting thing i want to ask is how many pieces does he publicly perform or record from what he learns?

Flight of the Bumblebee is sure to impress, and not so hard to learn considering the repetition of the theme.

Need I say it more? Flight of the Bumblebee

Chopin's etudes op 25/8 & 25/9 are both about 1 minute long.
