Looking for a song for a scholarship..
on: December 07, 2006, 11:47:05 PM
I'm looking for a song for a 10,000$ scholarship in Florida for Juniors and Seniors in Highschool.  The rules are: 3 to 8 minutes, as many, CLASSICAL pieces as you want within the time frame.  If the song has a repeat bar, you don't HAVE to play the repeated part. So far, I'm going to be playing Fantasie-Impromptu op 66 by Chopin which is around 5 minutes or so.  I'm looking for another song that'd be less than 3 minutes so I'd stick within the 8 minutes, but would absolutely WOW the audience.  Anybody know of some short, wowing song?  Thanks for the replies  ;D

1) What else do you have in your repetoire besides the FI?  It's a bit overplayed and I'm guessing your chances aren't as good with that.

2)  How long do you ahve to learn something else?

3)  Do you have a private teacher?

Try Brahms Ballade No. 1. Its around 3 minutes i think and if you can create the deep disturbing atmosphere that is in it you might well impress the audience. I think this piece is about one of Shakespeare's insane royalities. So freaking maestoso  :D.
