Is it just me or the score looks "tame"? Apart from the repeated notes on the lower staff, of course. Is it possible to cheat, use sostenuto pedal to hold the harmony and use both hands for the repeated notes?

Aloysius Bertrand wrote the poem.  Ravel wrote a piece for piano on the poem, which is what's discussed.  It requires a solid technique and all serious piano students play it along with the other two pieces in Gaspard de la Nuit.

Now, the real question is, why didn't you just google it?
Money does not make happiness, but it can buy you a piano.  :)

No, he ACTUALLY wrote SOMETHING USEFUL.

More time in English class, less on piano.

Actually THOSE repeated notes aren't so fast.  You can play it with one finger.
