never say never.  now, lau - let me get this straight.  it wasN't meant to be a compliment and then you say it has nothing to do with saddam.  you may not be able to post messages - but you surely know how to get your point across.  it's like saying a chef could have a circus with the smells he creates.

OK folks the speculation is over.  This really is Susan the pianistiho (third person singluar), the Pennsylvania Polka - so dotty that no one could ever come close to copying her  ;D

BTW what the [non-existent afterlife place] is it suppose to mean?  ::)

well, apparently the beatles agree with you - 'imagine there's no heaven...'  - but the thing is - WHAT IF THERE IS.

and, what's this pianistiho?  why the insult?  i think men have an aversity to allowing women to do anything well.  so they resort to insults to keep them in their place.  if you want to have women friends, you should treat them with respect.

Calm down  ;D

As I understand it, Pianistimo means "pianist, in my opinion" which would be in the first person singular, and suitable for use by you.

The second person singular would be pianistiyo, "pianist, in your opinion" third person pianistiho, "pianist, in her opinion" etc.

OK?  Pianistiyo?

farmerimo?  you are getting worse.  and, why would i refer to myself in third person?

ok.  i like gardening and flowers, but that's no reason to insult my new pennsylvanian habits.  btw, everything grows here - unlike the high desert.

wishful_thinker,  what are you practicing?  and why has your web site been down so long.  i mean i keep going and looking under 'schedule' and i see last years' up there.  did you suffer a breakdown of sorts?  what's a raconteur?

wishful_thinker,  what are you practicing?

Mozart Fanatsie in C minor, K475, Chopin Nocturne in b Op 32 No 1, Bach Fugues X, XV and XXI, and the Diabelli Variations, some Chopin Walzes and Mazurkas for fun.

and why has your web site been down so long.  i mean i keep going and looking under 'schedule' and i see last years' up there.  did you suffer a breakdown of sorts?

Hey?  which website? its probable the parental control on your web browser that won't let you
on to it  ;D

  what's a raconteur?

post the diabelli and i'll believe that you're as good a story teller as you are a pianist.  btw, i happen to love fugues, too.  some strange quirk.  ok.  post everything sometime.  or do you have the same problem as i do - figuring out how to get a good recording?

have you gone to any of doxy's recitals?  who, in your opinion, is the best british pianist today (besides yourself)?

If I had the recording capabilities I would, but I don't  >:(

I don't see what the fuss is about, most of it is quite simple, I can sight read it.  Don't know why Anderszewski makes such a song and dance about it.  Mind you he can play if from memory - at over an hour, that's pretty good  8)

oops.  i didn't meant to quote myself.

ok.  i understand about the recording stuff.  the thing is - it IS a big deal to play things that are easy very well.  that's imo of course.  farmerimo speaking.

i will now listen to this anderszewski.  he sounds polish.  but, i guess living in britain makes one british nowdays.

Piotr Anderszewski is Polish

https://www.anderszewski.net/

He flounced out of the Leeds Piano Competetion in 1990, because he didn't think his playing up to scratch.  He has recorded the Diabelli on DVD, and its worth watching for a) his performance of this Beethoven work, and b) the drop dead gorgeous Steinway that he is playing  8) pure piano porn  ;D

BTW, my new Yamaha is highly polished ebonised, and I can watch the reflection of my fingers in the fall. My Kawai (lets hear it for the boy!) is ebony too, but of course the angle is wrong to get a reflection.

this is the most enjoyable thing i've read all morning.  he looks a bit like a cyclist, too.  you would have to taunt me with something like this.  and, of course, the hands - they are beautiful.  and - he's not bad looking.  i liked what he had to say about richter - and not trying the piano out.  although i think it is a bit brash sometimes if the piano is wierd.  i think one should always work out these quirks ahead of time and not on the audience.

never realized the story behind the diabelli variations!  will have to get his recording of this.  and listen to more szymanowski (sp?).  am not that familiar with his works.

i'm impressed piotr also plays the mozart and conducts at the same time.

interesting that you like to see your fingers reflected in the fallboard.  20 years ago i had to request a fallboard to come off for that very reason.  i got very flustered by it.  you have a kawaii grand, too?  that is too much good luck for one person.  i am waiting for a bosendorfer, petrov, steinway, or fazioli - in close to 7' size - in my dreams.  anything larger and it's wasted on me.  don't you think that larger pianos go out of tune much much faster, too?

ps i had a chance last year to get a grand - but i didn't want to be selfish.  we have five people in the family and the couch was disintegrating before our eyes (a hole in it - that the little one kept sticking her finger in) as stuffing would come out and pile on the floor.  so - we bought a black leather couch with cup holders.  it's actually a set of recliners that hook together like a couch.  we found them at chain-mar - the three seater - with fold down cup holder back in middle chair is really the most 'couch looking.'  the other two recliners are separated by a thick pad and two cup holders - but there is no back behind them in the middle - so they look like recliners.  it fills up the living room where i would put a grand.

No the Kawai is an upright.  Two grands would be too grand, even for me  ;D

still.  kawaii's are very good practice pianos, imo.  i still have mine (studio upright) and i love it still.  even the sound is good after all these years.  and, it's stayed in tune really well.  i mean, it needs a tuning badly right now - but it stays for long periods of time.  and, it goes out of tune fairly evenly (at least where you play the most).

i know your intentions are good - but just go back to thal's side and tell him it's 5-3.  i'm keeping score.  btw, that's in my favor.
