I would personally use (assuming the four notes before are played 1231):

but then, I can reach a major tenth and prefer 1-4 octaves, so it might not be the most comfortable for you.
Also, I have a feeling that the phrases are grouped as indicated by the parentheses, e. g. that they end with the beat rather than start. Another interpretative hunch of mine is that the LH non legato eights should be brouhgt out in second half of the phrase (against the RH sixths), whereas the RH is dominating in the scale-ish parts. But then, that's just the way I'd play it, I definitely don't want to disagree with your teacher...
