Debussy- Feux d'artifice
on: May 06, 2007, 09:58:45 AM
Would this work as an undergrad audition piece if played well?

Or is it one of those pieces that is always made a mess of and the panels will have heard a million people attempt?

Im confident that i will be able to play it well enough but at the same time i dont want to make things harder for myself than they need to be.

I don't think that piece is often played at auditions at all.

By the way, long time no post. How's it going?

It's pretty freakishly hard.  I don't think it's played too often :p.
For us musicians, the music of Beethoven is the pillar of fire and cloud of mist which guided the Israelites through the desert.  (Roughly quoted, Franz Liszt.)

Good audition piece. Don't know how hard it is, but don't practice the glissandos too much! ;D

My teacher wanted me to play it for undergrad auditions, but it didn't work out. Great piece, though, and he told me that nobody ever plays it for undergrad because it's too hard.
