One of the most popular questions of the forum is about composers and pianists. Now...I regret to admit that I don't know the difference between a composer and a pianist!

PLEASE could someone finally answer the question I have always wondered about?

Thanks,

G.W.K

A composer composes the music, the pianist plays it

simple, isn't it?  :D
If it doesn't work - try something different!

I am discombobulated with your feeble and vague explanations...

Discombobulated means: "To throw into confusion"...in other words...I am confused.

A composer composes music, a pianist plays the piano  ;D probably the easiest question in the world to answer.

A pianist is a craftsman that replicates music.
A composer is an artist that creates music.

A pianist is a craftsman that replicates music.
A composer is an artist that creates music.

If you replicate, you are a replicator...

A pianist interprets music! That's why i like more to hear a pianist live than a Cd...

Not all - Wagner wasn't a pianist; Berlioz was not a pianist; Boulez could play a bit but not professionally; Ravel was a poor pianist; Haydn was not a pianist.
