Villa Lobos- O Polichinelo
on: August 09, 2007, 11:45:32 PM
This is another nostalgic recording. Again, I was 8 at the time, although this piece has a story behind it. I heard my teacher use it as an encore at his master's recital, and I went and secretly learned it and surprised him with it one day.. Hahaha. So he had me play it in the recital after his masters recital... it was pretty funny. Everyone was like... Hey... I've heard that before.... hahahaha.

Fun to hear this again. I remember hearing Rubenstein play it in concert many (many) years ago(it was one of his favorite encore pieces) - he always repeated it completely (except for the ending flourish) and varied the dyanamics a little the second time around. How fun it must be to have those early recordings of your playing.

Durch alle Töne tönet
Im bunten Erdentraum
Ein leiser Ton gezogen
Für den, der heimlich lauschet.
